Welcome

The mission of Babydoll Southdown Sheep Breeders Association & registry (BSSBA) to strictly preserve Mock standards has not changed. Remaining active, interested and invested in the best for the Babydoll Southdown breed, we have taken input from members, reviewed other American and UK registries to update the BSSBA standards: BSSBA Breed Standard We announced this by email and in our members-only Facebook group a few weeks, but wanted to bring it up again in this post as we announce something else...

Also, since there have been so many inquiries and interest, BSSBA is welcoming North American Babydoll Southdown Sheep Association and Registry sheep that meet the BSSBA breed standard.

For those of you interested in registering your sheep with BSSBA, your sheep must be at least 2 years old to apply and currently registered with at least one of the other two Babydoll Southdown Sheep registries. You would submit your sheep's current certificate of registry and a full set of photos to be reviewed to ensure your sheep meets BSSBA breed standards. Note: all submitted sheep will not be approved as they must meet BSSBA breed standards to be approved. If approved, you would then submit your form to have your sheep registered with BSSBA. From there, if you wanted, you could then register any current lambs so long as both parents have been approved and registered through BSSBA.

We want to emphasize that this is by no means an "open" registry or some sort of free for all. BSSBA wants to promote a long healthy future for the sheep of our registry and this move is truly what is best for the breed, their dedicated shepherds, and our registry.
