BSSBA - Unique

BSSBA is new and one of the questions we've been getting is: "Why another registry? I mean, how are you different?

My first reaction: It doesn't matter. We're here, people are interested and joining.

But, ok, sure, some press for a more detailed answer...

No one should be claiming to be better than X, Y or Z. However, when asked “What’s the difference?”, it’s hard to answer that without stating a comparison… I mean, the definition for "difference" is: the state or relation of being different; dissimilarity / a point or way in which people or things are not the same. You factually cannot define a difference without something to compare to. And good grief, social media can be brutal because to then have that comparison turned around and misconstrued is pretty frustrating and a slippery slope to try to recover from.

Here are some things to keep in mind:

  • BSSBA is a non-profit organization (not a sole proprietor business).
  • We are supported by the Associated Registry to keep things streamlined, easy, more supported by a larger staff (with an office) and as electronic as possible.
  • Under the circumstances a lot of members are currently in with their flocks, BSSBA has made every effort to be cost effective and very affordable in all aspects
  • Membership to BSSBA is free for the first 7 months after its creation
  • Multiple people check BSSBA's current email allowing for quick responses (the occasional overlapping responses is better than none, right??)
  • This breed standard has been supported by a “single person” business / registry that has been around for more than 25 years.
  • The breed has had two registries going on for a little more than 15 years now
  • One of the key differences between these two already recognizable registries is an one-person run business vs a non-profit.
  • There were and are some slight breed standard differences between the two already established registries.
Time and time again, we've said how each person needs to educate themselves on the registries, their rules, etc. and decide which registry(ies) work for their flock … and that is the bottom line. Transfer over, dual register or tri-register if you can & want to cover all basis.

Maybe in minor facets or subtle variations, but the two long-standing registries are different. They just are … and so is BSSBA - it’s unique.

BSSBA welcomes those that wish to preserve the original standards of this sweet, little breed that have been around since this breed was re-established. Members who enjoyed Mock's original registry seem to now love BSSBA as it has brought tasks and communication up to speed and into the technological age that we've all come to expect.

Your flock is your own and you know what is best for it - we acknowledge and support that.
